Winkelmann named to academic all-district team

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Jennies junior guard Shelby Winkelmann has been honored for her success in the classroom. Winkelmann has been named to the Capital One 2014-15 Academic All-District Second Team.
Winkelmann, a junior from Rhineland, Mo., has a 4.0 GPA in speech pathology. She was also named to the 2013-14 MIAA Academic Honor Roll last season.
In addition to her success in the classroom, Winkelmann has been a force for the Jennies on the hardwood. She currently leads the Jens averaging 15.9 points per game and 2.5 assists, and is second on the team having scored on 46% of her attempts (98-of-211). Winkelmann has also pulled down 3.3 rebounds per game and has come up with 31 steals in 17 games played.
Winkelmann is the first Jen to be awarded the Academic All-District distinction since Lindsey Maple during the 2007-08 season.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-American consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better on a 4.0 scale, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their current institution.
