Connie Lou Lanning

Connie Lou Lanning, 78, of Leeton, Missouri died, Sunday, Feb. 1 at her home.
Funeral Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5th at the Warrensburg Elks Lodge with Rev. Sid Tiller of Northside Christian Church officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Lodge.
There will be a private interment in Mineral Creek Cemetery in Leeton at a later date.
Connie was born March 2, 1936 in Chariton, Iowa the daughter of Melvin Louis Lathrop and Ruth Marie (Hixson) Lathrop. She was raised in Chariton. She was united in marriage to Jack Benjamin Lanning on Aug. 18, 1953 in Chariton. Due to Jack’s military career, the couple moved to Memphis, Tennessee. In 1956, he was reassigned to Whiteman Air Force Base, so they relocated to the Knob Noster area. From 1962 to 1965, they lived in Spain. Upon Jack’s retiring from active duty, the couple returned to the Knob Noster area, and in 1967 they moved near Leeton, Missouri.
Connie was a member of Warrensburg Elks Lodge #673, and was very active with special needs and other charity events. She will be the first female to be included in the Tablets of Love in Memory at the Lodge. She also volunteered serving lunch at the Warrensburg Veterans Home for several years. Connie loved playing cards at a senior card club in Clinton, Missouri, tending to her flower gardens and farming.
Survivors include her son Gregory Lanning of Leeton, Missouri; daughter Valerie Vaughn and husband, Russell of Blue Springs, Missouri; sister Sandy Bristow and husband, Tom of Aurora, Colorado; brother Randy Lathrop and wife, Suzy of Florida; four grandchildren, Jeremy Vaughn, Jason Vaughn, Joel Lanning and Joey Vaughn; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 1980; both parents and her brother, Gary Lathrop.
Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
