(RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo., AP) — A St. Louis-area doctor has been indicted on a felony charge of possessing child pornography.
A federal grand jury indicted 30-year-old Shoichi Okada of Richmond Heights after police say he admitted to downloading child porn since 2013. Authorities say he possessed at least two child porn images.
Okada is a surgical resident at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. A Barnes spokesman tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that detectives interviewed Okada on Nov. 3, his first day of rotation at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He says Okada has been placed on administrative leave.
The spokesman said the charge is unrelated to Okada’s employment with Barnes.
Okada’s lawyer didn’t return messages seeking comment from the newspaper or KSDK-TV.
