Roy Dale Constant

Roy Dale Constant, 79, of Centerview, Mo., died peacefully on Sunday, April 13, in Lees Summit,MO. He was born on April 25, 1934 in Sheridan, Mo., the third child of six and the first son of Dale and Vetra (VanAusdall) Constant.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Thursday, April 17 at Williams Funeral Chapel located on 1400 So. Maguire St., Warrensburg, Mo.
Graduating from Sheridan High School in 1952. Roy and Colene married on June 10,1954 at the Country Club Methodist Church in Kansas City, Mo. Soon after Roy started his service in the US Army where they were stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky. and then Ft. Hood, Tx. They started their family there with the birth of a daughter, Lynda and upon completion of Roy’s military service they returned to Kansas City where Roy went back to work for Sheffield Steel. They established a home in Kansas City and added two more children; a son, Ken and a daughter, Tricia to t heir growing family. In 1955 Roy accepted Christ as his Savior at the Beaumont Baptist Church, Kansas City.
Independence, Mo., became their new home in 1961. Here they added another daughter, Nancy to complete their family. During their time in Independence their home became a haven for neighborhood children, nieces and nephews, and more.
In 1977 they moved to Centerview, Mo., to the home where Roy raised Angus cattle. He retired from management at Armco Steel in 1982 with 30 years of service. Later he went to work for Gates Rubber Co. in Warrensburg, Mo., retiring in 1992. In 1998, Colene died. His children, grandchildren and other family were there to support him. He was always active in the community and became a member of Kiwanis, the Elks, and the VFW. He was privileged to serve as a member of the VFW Honor Guard.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Colene; his parents; in-laws, Olin and Marie Groom; sister, Leta and husband Duane Wake; sister, Doris Jean and husband Chuck Chancellor and infant brother Jimmie Eugene Constant.
Cancer invaded Roy’s life in 2003. In 2008 he was declared free of his cancer but the surgery, treatments, and side effects from his battle left him weakened but determined. He spent time raising his beloved cattle, taking care of his land, sharing his children’s lives, watching grandchildren marry and have his great grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his four children, Lynda Passiglia and husband Chuck ; Ken Constant and wife Vicki; Tricia Mannering and husband Kevin and Nancy Constant; sister, Willa Wilson; brother, Gary Constant; eight grandchildren, Darren Nipper and wife Crystal, DeAnna Ensminger and husband Kevin ,Robert Mannering and spouse Brooke, Holly Jennings and husband Luke, Steven Mannering and wife Brandi, Brettni Bishop, Ryan Davis, and Kelsi Constant; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
