UCM hosts Something to Eat

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — Christian Campus House, a student-focused Christian group in Warrensburg, is bringing Something to Eat back to the University of Central Missouri for the third year.
This year’s event will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 21 -25 in a canvas tent on the east side of Elliott Student Union. The UCM community is invited to donate $1.50 per person to assemble a package of six meals to feed people in need. Sodexo meal swipes also will be accepted. Three swipes will make five packages of food, and five swipes will make 10 packages.
Something to Eat at UCM is a community effort to feed people in need. Each package assembled will feed six people.
In Spring 2013, the UCM campus and Warrensburg community assembled 4,367 packages of food, making 32,634 meals. These meals were shipped to the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Nicaragua for children in schools and as relief aid.
“We want to bring our campus community together to make a difference, and something as simple and yet life-altering as hunger seems like a great way to unify the campus,” said Brad Smith, director of Christian Campus House. “Our goal during the week of April 21 is to raise money for and assemble 5,000 packages of food, which translates into 30,000 meals.”
All groups and organizations are encouraged to reserve a time to package meals by filling out the online form. If interested in volunteering to work at the event or for more information about Something to Eat or to fill out the form, visit ucmo.edu/somethingtoeat.
