Recruiters meeting set for 2014 Johnson County CROP Hunger Walk

People who are interested in walking and recruiting others for the 2014 Johnson County CROP Hunger Walk can attend an organizational meeting March 27 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church at 607 N. Maguire St. Recruiters will hear a brief presentation about the CROP Walk and receive information about this spring’s event.
The CROP Hunger Walk will be at 10 a.m. April 26 at the First United Methodist Church. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.
The 3-mile walk benefits the Church World Service with 25 percent of the funds raised here to go to the Warrensburg Food Center. The event will mark its 10th anniversary this year. Since 2004, walkers have raised more than $94,000, some $23,500 of which has gone to the Food Center, according to spokeswoman Kaye Fair.
Doug Christie, of Warrensburg, is chairman of the CROP committee.
Organizers are seeking recruiters from all Johnson County churches, as well as at the University of Central Missouri, public schools and other civic groups. To become a walker or recruiter, contact Fair at 660-747-2957 or 441-7672 or email at [email protected] or visit cropwalk.org online.
