Donald Ray Gardner

Donald Ray Gardner, 74, of Kingsville, Mo., died Sunday, March 9, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Ben Cast & Son – Wood Funeral Home in Holden, Mo. Friends may call from 1–1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in the Holden Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 19, 1939, in Kansas City, Mo., a son of Wallace and June (Hamilton) Gardner. After spending early childhood in Pleasant Hill, he lived most of his life in the Kingsville community. He graduated from Kingsville High School, and on Feb. 10, 1961, he married Ruth Evelyne Strate.
Don had worked at Stahl Specialty Company and Blum’s Service Station in Kingsville, owned and operated Gardner’ s Restaurant in Kingsville, and retired from propane delivery for MFA. He was a member of the Medford United Methodist Church near Holden.
He leaves his wife, Ruth, of the home; three sons, John Gardner of Kingsville; Robert Gardner of Holden; and Wayne Gardner of Kingsville; one brother, Bill Gardner of Lee’s Summit; one sister, Berna Dene Yates of Raytown, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
