Bessie O. Carder, 108 of Warrensburg, Mo. died Saturday, Feb. 1, at Harmony Gardens Assisted Living in Warrensburg.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Chaplain Erik Kurz of Crossroads Hospice officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Harmony Gardens Assisted Living, Crossroads Hospice or Sunset Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
Bessie was born Aug. 7, 1905, near Centerview, Mo., daughter of Clarence Shelby Tygart and Mary Cecilia (Parker) Tygart. She was raised near Centerview, where she attended school.She married J. H. “Nick” Carder on Nov. 2, 1927. Bessie worked as a bookkeeper for their business, J. H. Carder Body Shop in Warrensburg for 22 years. Later, she was a sales clerk for nineteen years at Connor Wagoner’s in Warrensburg. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Morocco Sunday School Class, charter member of the First United Methodist Women; Elks Ladies Club, Johnson County Historical Society and the Hickory Grove Extension Club.
Survivors include three nieces, Mrs. George “Pauline” Howard of Liberty, Mo.; Doris Muckley of Tucson, Ariz. and Sylvia Carder of Chilhowee, Mo.; three nephews, Herbert Howard of Urich, Mo., Jack Easterwood of Warrensburg, Mo., and Ron Carder of Grove, Okla.; four great nieces, Mrs. Donna Skates of Prairie Village, Kan., Mrs. Patricia Lynch of Lee’’s Summit, Mo., Mrs. Jeanne Jewell of Peculiar, Mo. and Miss Jacque Howard of Raytown, Mo.; five great nephews, Lynn Cooper of Los Angeles, Calif., Phillip Howard of Urich, Mo., Jimmy Howard of Gladstone, Mo., Norman Howard of Kearney, Mo., and Jack W. Easterwood of Warrensburg, Mo.
She is also survived by great-great nieces and nephews; great-great-great nieces and nephews and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick; sister, Sylvia Banes; step sister, Virginia Easterwood; three nieces, Mildred Tygart, Hazel Hunt and Mildred Cooper; three nephews, George Howard, Loyd Howard and Allison Pfeifer.
