(WARRENSBURG. Mo.) – Central Missouri senior setter Julia Bates was named to the Capital One Academic All-America First Team on Wednesday.
Bates was previously named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team in 2011.
Bates was the MIAA Player of the Year and a first-team, all-conference selection, Daktronics All-Region and AVCA All-American Second Team. She averaged 10.95 assists per set, 1.96 digs and 1.35 kills per set and hit .324 this year, helping the Jennies advance to the NCAA playoffs. Bates is fifth on Central Missouri’s all-time assists list.
She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in sports management with a 3.67 grade point average and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in kinesiology. She is a four-time MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award recipient and has been named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll all four years of her college career.
