Jennies end season with loss to Concordia-St. Paul

(DULUTH, Minn.) — No. 5 Central Missouri was dealt their second loss of the season in the Central Regional tournament on Friday evening.
The Jennies were swept by No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul in the Romano Gymnasium, 20-25, 20-25, 12-25. The Jennies finish their season with a 33-2 record.
Concordia-St. Paul took a a quick lead to start the first set, scoring the first 10 of 12 points in the match. The Jennies were only able to tie the score once, and were able to hold Concordia at set point for five points at the end of the set. Carly Sojka had five kills, Haley Thompson and Taylor Goodness had three kills.
The Jennies took their first lead of the match at the start of the second set with three points in a row, a kill from Maddie Jones, Goodness, and Thompson each. The Jennies held their lead until Concordia caught up at 11-11, but they were able to stay ahead for the following five points. Concordia tied the score again at 14-14, and the Jennies were never able to catch up. Julia Bates had three kills and an ace in the second set. Becca Blaise had two kills and an ace.
Concordia led the Jennies for the entirety of the third set, winning the first seven of 10 points. The Jens held Concordia at match point twice before a kill from Concordia finished the match. Goodness and Thompson both had three kills in the third set of the match.
Goodness had eight kills and a block in her final match as a Jennie. Bates had 23 assists, five kills, and two aces in the final match of her career. Sojka had nine kills. Thompson had eight kills, and hit .333, with a block. Jones and Blaise both had three kills in the match. Annie Reilly had six digs in the match.
